I'm surprised Tesla allowed this show to use their brand name. The whole episode centers around how difficult it is to have one of these cars, and how hard it is to find somewhere to charge it. It absolutely serves as a total non-endorsement of their cars.
Though ludicrous mode would be cool if they really have it.

This is the first episode I've seen of this show. I thought it was ridiculous how much of the show was devoted to that car. It was like watching an extended Tesla commercial. They spent more time on the car than most episodes of Knight Rider.
shareI thought it was good drama and writing. Yeah it's a bit "gimmicky" similar to how the transporter malfunctions in every second star trek episode, but it's far better than what writers today usually do:
Plot-Induced Stupidity or giving the Idiot Ball to one of the characters.

I REALLY really REALLLY hate it when writers make characters act obviously stupid or emotional just to create drama and a problem for the characters then to overcome with "believing in yourself" and stupid things like that. Here we have a genuine problem the characters have to deal with. And it definitely hasn't been overdone either.
You could even see it (if you really want to) as a comment on how much we rely on technology, and from how far we are from our natural environment.
Love the comparison to Knight Rider. LOL!
