ok, so they get the bones outta there, get rid of a bishop for the day, all to what end?? To cut that gal's head off in front of everyone? were they hoping to summon a demon? all seems rather pointless

to cut her head off in public wouldn't need all those machinations lol and if they didn't believe the church or god had any power, why wait till there's no spiritual leader for the day? either there's power or not lol

ugh this was so dumb. I love the actress playing Merrily but this was a stinker

I agree ! Exorcism is a scary subject. This wasn't scary enough to scare you or mysterious enough to grip you. I watched and it was like someone wrote it but were scared of the subject so skipped the depth and research of the paranormal . It just seemed like an episode of Midsomer murders. Was bland ! Good acting by the lady vicar but so , so bland. I hate gore things but even if they researched Exorcism better and applied it to the series it would have been interesting.

The Satanists' aims were fairly clear to me. They intended to ruin the holy sanctity of a Christian church. In order to do this, they needed to remove the bones, which were protecting the site, then they wanted to ordain a young Satanist as the new bishop-in-waiting and, upon his ascension to the post, he was to spill the blood of a virgin on the church's altar.

In modern parlance, they were attempting to commit spiritual terrorism in a holy place in front of everyone.
