So, does anyone actually like the pairing of Batgirl and Batman?

You know, anyone besides Bruce Timm?

I mean, the relationship was intriguing in "Batman Beyond" but, by the time those characters started hinting at a relationship they were both quite old. You could make the assumption that they got together when Bruce was in his 50's and Barbara was in her 30's or something. But the way this movie plays out with their ages is just so... eww.

Hell, even if they were similar in age, I've always preferred Bruce with Selina. And I've always preferred Barbara with... no one. She doesn't seem like the type of character who needs romantic subplots. Just leave her single. It's not a crime to leave a character dateless, DC!

The idea's never sat right with me.

I don't think the relationship was ever intriguing. It's just gross and bizarre fan fiction.

The problem with them hooking up isn't even necessarily because of their age differences, it's because of their dynamic. Barbara is essentially a daughter-in law for Bruce, and she's even dated Dick Grayson (Bruce's adoptive son) in most continuities. Why would anyone with a reasonable mind think they make a good couple?

Of course, Bruce Timm in general seems to have a nasty habit of using animation as an excuse to depict some of his own fetishes. That's why the women in the DCAU always seem to find Batman to be irresistible, and why the Joker of all people was given a girlfriend who's madly in love with him.

it's weird. not good weird.

imo

Me neither. Didn't like it in BB, esp. the story of the pregnancy was utter crap. Why does such nonsense get into continuity?
If it was some elseworld exploration, it'd be okay for me. Batman is no boy scout, but that doesn't mean he needs to go through every drama normally only soap operas authors come up with.

However... of the two videos of this one I prefer the first one nonetheless. The second is too sick and disgusting for my taste.

The only people who like it are creepy middle-aged guys who self-insert themselves as Batman, and get turned on by "sexy" drawings of 20 year old women.

Better than the pairing of him and Robin.

What do you say, you dumb bitch?

I'm not opposed to the pairing, but I felt like there was a movie missing in between this one and the last one that should have built up their relationships. What it boiled down to such as I saw it was "Batgirl's attracted to Batman because reasons."

Between this one and the last one? Batman: The Killing Joke is intended to be a stand-alone. What are you putting in front of it?

I just assumed it was a continuation from the other DC Bat films, since the last one with all the various Batpeople in it also showed Batgirl in the end. I assumed that was her "origin" and somewhere between that and TKJ she and Batman became a team.

reply

No, there's no connection between Batman: Bad Blood and this. Note the different character designs and art styles; plus there's no Damian in The Killing Joke. It's just a coincidence that both movies have some version of Batgirl in them.

Oh well, just seemed like a setup back then :)
