A Film Well Worth Watching and Enjoying.

I must defend this film from some of the detracting remarks that have been made about it. These judgements find fault in the film for being light, untrue to what would happen in real life, and having somewhat of a clunky plot and some acting episodes.
Yet, let us enjoy the film for the strengths that it has – the performances are overall fine, and the plot flags itself as a fictional venture, one not striving for verisimilitude. Rather, the film taps into that thought that we might sometimes have: what if I told people what I really really think, what if I “let it rip” and called a spade a spade? In a way it is a bit like that state we might be in when we are coming awake and having some wild dreamy thoughts. Of course the “guru” is transparently obvious, but in the end he comes good anyway.
The film charts its story well, supplies lots of laughs without being supine or too silly, and, to our surprise, has an ending that is fairly satisfying, and even somewhat wise and meaningful.
