This anime is totally worth checking out because it covers the first seven volumes of the YuGiOh manga and shows the origins of Yugi's friendship with Jou, Honda and Bakura as well as the circumstances surrounding his assembly of the Millennium Puzzle.

People may disagree with me but I think this should be watched BEFORE Duel Monsters that way they'll be getting more of the beginning part of Kazuki Takahashi's story (unlike Duel Monsters which tells the beginning parts with brief moments of dialogue, flash backs and by simply recreating scenes (such as when it recreated Yugi and Bakura's first fight in the Duelist Kingdom arc except they played Duel Monsters instead of Monster World) because of this the beginning part is told out of order and in not as much detail)
