Don't get the hate, it was awesome

I saw the movie yesterday. I liked New Year's Eve, so I was excited about this, but wasn't expecting such a hilarious movie. The whole cinema was laughing so hard that we were in stitches. It was a very pleasant surprise, much better than New Year's Eve. The movie cheered me up so much, it totally made my day.

I don't know why people hate movies like these. I'm a hardcore thriller fan, but sometimes it feels so good to watch such a positive and upbeat movie like this. Can't wait to see it again, this time with my mom.

Perhaps, they're smart enough to know lazy, manipulative, delusional, stereotypical, contrived and flat out poor filmmaking when they see it.

I guess some people can be fooled more easier than others.
My mother would disown me on the spot if I ever took her to see this trite...and these were HER words.

If you don't understand the hate for this movie, I don't know how to help you.

reply

Virtual high five for you.

reply

And what would Be your definition pf a good movie?

Captain America: Civil War isn't a movie. It's a live action videogame made to the PS4 generation.

reply

Well, I didn't mention Captain America. And any movie of any genre can be good. Romantic comedies can be good if they aren't insulting.

I don't get the hate either. They sound like idiots, or immature drug addicts.

It's a very enjoyable movie.

reply

And you sound like a troll or a plant for Open Road Films...or your standards for entertainment and IQ are so low, that a snail can slide over.

This comment made my laugh hysterically. Thank you

reply

I loved it, really good and feel good too. I shall watch it again.

reply

So anyone hating a movie is a drug addict? Your mother must of been a huge movie hater then. Says the asexual 66 year old bitch. Why are you so salty? Not getting any sex? You probably live with 30 cats. Is that right Kerry McNeill [email protected].

Don't get hurt kid. I'm not your daddy, I'll beat you senseless.

reply

I truly hope you were a part of the production of this movie and now is desperately trying to bait people into seeing it with "the whole cinema was laughing so hard we were in stitches" spiel and stating you liked New Years Eve. If not then I'm truly disturbed with your taste in movies and your definition of a comedy.

reply

Why are you disturbed in someone else's taste for movies? You don't have to watch it. I don't get it, why do people here strive so hard to make others feel inferior for their movie choices? Are you trying to bully moviegoers into converting to comic book movies? Go watch Deadpool again, and please, take a bath!

reply

the aggressive viciousness of these haters is really scary. Even just saying we enjoyed the movie inspires attacks. What is going on here?

reply

what is going on here?

This is a forum to discuss films, film industry, and yes, my special snowflake, film audiences and tastes. All very much a part of why and how such utter dreck can get made in the first place and misplaced into 3,000 theaters - especially when some great or interesting films cannot.

Maybe you need to go to your safe space.

reply

discussing films and being sarcastic and rude to other people here are two very different things.

reply

Nobody mentioned comic book movies. Let's just focus on how horrible this movie is.

reply

Pay no mind to this guy. Clearly he's a troll and on top of that he's also under the username, easystopsweepstakes.

reply

You're bashing the OP because he doesn't share your exquisite taste in movies, and now you're calling another poster a troll? So how do you define "troll?" Someone who bashes movie fans like you do without the fortune of being you????

This picture contains no physical depiction of the Godhead.

reply

Nobody is acting as if they have exquisite taste in movies. This movie is an insult to anyone who watches it. If you enjoy it, nobody can stop you. Enjoy it. It's still a horrible movie. I've seen it; the filmmakers shat on me.

reply

Do you normally just pay money to watch a movie just so you can hate it and come on IMDB to pick on people who enjoyed it? Must be nice to have that much money to be a dick.

reply

I didn't pay to see the movie, I saw it with other people and my ticket was payed for. Honestly, I don't remember the movie at all anymore. I'm not a dick for saying this movie is poop. Don't be silly.

reply

My apologies. I was not referring to the OP but the poster named kmac44mv aka easystopsweepstakes. At least, the OP was sincere with his answer. Not so much this person.
Has he explained why he liked it or what was good about it? Usually when you like or dislike something, you would give legitimate reasons for for doing so.
I have yet to see anything like that from him.
At least those who disliked this gave their reasons why.

All, we heard from this poster are these:

Ah, how refreshing. Another angry foreigner jealous of our air conditioned theaters and lack of goat slaughterings during movie screening. Sorry that they only serve water, Corona and dog food at your concession stand. I'll sit back with my popcorn and diet coke and say a little prayer for your lack of adequate dental care while watching this one. The world isn't against you, your against yourself. I'm sure your excited about finally getting 'Home Alone 2' in your country. Spoiler alert: he gets lost again. And I think I remember a scene involving a female character showing cleavage, so I hope your theater isn't raided during the screening.

I suspect I'd seriously dislike any movie you'd describe as "good"

Go watch Deadpool again, and please, take a bath!

I'm not bashing anyone. I'm just pointing out the obvious.

Garry Marshall has figured out how to post on IMDb message boards. This is like when the raptors learned how to open doors in Jurassic Park.

"If this were a just world, someone like John Waters will end up presenting this film at midnight screenings as audiences, dressed in character, hurl rejoinders at the screen. Mother’s Day, Garry Marshall’s third in an unofficial trilogy that includes Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve, is a goddamn trash masterpiece."

I agree! I went into this one not expecting much, but it was really funny and sweet. It's also rare for a movie to have gay characters, and even more rare for them to actually be a part of the storyline, not the punchline. It was refreshing.

reply

Now wait a second. It is rare for a movie nowadays to have gay characters? Am I in the twilight zone?

reply

I meant rare for gay characters to actually be a part of the storyline. They're usually just a sidekick or comic relief, but the two moms in this movie actually had some depth.

reply

Maybe it's rare in the movies you watch.

reply

I like it, too! Thought it was funny; but I liked most of the cast and that helps
