Well this is going to be a bust

Anyone else agree with me? Of course, I'll probably watch the damn thing just to be sure

Don't look at me

Like you, I'll probably watch it, but I can't imagine that it could be as good as the Megan Follows version. Who could possible play Morilla better than Colleen Dewhurst? I think this will be a disaster, but I'll watch because I'm curious. I hope I'm surprised.

reply

I hope it is released soon and on PBS. If not, I'll wait until it comes out on DVD, or it's uploaded on YT. Martin Sheen is a decent actor. I loved the Kevin Sullivan movies in the mid 80's- early 00's. I got to meet the late Jon Crombie(Gil) in 2008. That was so much fun, I heard he was a nice guy.

Well, seeing that both Colleen Dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth are dead, it's a little ridiculous to weep and bitch about it, right?

reply

Not really. I cried when Jonathan died. Maybe that's geeky of me to admit but I'll sure as hell admit it. I grew up with the Anne series, I was in 2nd grade when I watched Anne for the first time. People aren't really surprised when an older person dies or somebody that's having serious health problems dies. People might veer in the opposite direction when I say this next part--some people might consider JC to be "up there in age". I didn't. I think he died at a young age. Not like he died when he was 16 or anything, but he still died at a young age imo. His death came out of the blue. I had gotten online, went to a website that my friend linked to that talked about his death--my jaw dropped and the first thing I thought/said was "what the *beep*?!"

*And even if Colleen and Richard were older/had health problems, I bet a lot of their fans were still sad at their passing away. Whether we're talking Anne fans or if we're talking fans that enjoy their work in other things.

reply

I had the same reaction. I was really really sad. Not to the degree that I felt when Princess Diana died, but it was along the lines of that.

reply

Couldn't say. Don't like to make ignorant assumptions. Will have to see.

reply

I thought it was good, nothing will ever compare to Megan Follows but it's nice to see a fresh take.

I watched it hoping for the best but excpecting the worst. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't good. Too many unnecessary deviations from the story. Mediocre acting.

I'll stick with the original miniseries or read the books again if I need an Anne fix.
