Anne of Green Gables 2016

I have watched the 1985 version with my children many times and have always loved it, but just want to say that the new one, although very short at an hour and a half, is still a wonderful story. Granted, we all fell in love with Megan and the cast from the older version, this one was still excellent. I hope that families watch this and encourage them to also experience the 1985 version and the books, where it all began.

I totally agree, both versions have their merits. In this version Ella was more believable as an 11 year old but of course if the story had continued like the 1985 one she would not be able to pass as a 16 year old. The 1985 one was too long at 3 hours to be a film and would be better as a TV serial in at least 3 parts.

IIRC when the 1985 version originally aired, it aired as two 90 minute episodes and not one long film.

For those that have read the books and love the story, 3 hours don't feel all that long for AoGG or Anne of Avonlea.

I saw the movie a few weeks, and felt it was a cute remake. I did not know Martin's son Ramon was on the production team.
