The 1985 AGG will always be the best!

The 1985 Anne of Green Gables will always be the best. It was true to the book unlike this one. Megan Follow looked like and became Anne Shirley. The little girl who betrayed Anne Shirley in this version was good but the red hair looked unnatural just like the fake freckles.
The girl who played Diana Barry was not even like the book. Diane had beautiful black hair and was plump and beautiful. The girl in the movie was beautiful but not plump or have beautiful black hair. Also Diane lacked Anne's powerful imagination.
Gilbert Blythe is described in the book as being very handsome with dark curly hair and hazel eyes. He is tall with a lien build plus he was older than Anne since he had been out of school taking care of his family farm while his father was sick.
I love all the Anna Green Gables books, the 1985 Anne of Green Gables movies and I even love the the beauty of Prince Edward Island. I was
sadly disappointed how much they botched this new version up. Please don't make any more versions Lucy Maud Montgomery's books. She must be rolling in her grave.

I doubt LM liked the 85 butchering much more than this one. Both were far off from the book.

While I enjoy the 85 version well enough, I still live in hope that someone will make something that is truer to the original stories. That would include sticking to the timeline that would have to be in place in order to make the later books work. Thus the first story would need to start in 1876 and carry on from there as outlined in this excellent timeline http://home.clara.net/hendricks/kindreds/chronology.html. And since I love Anne of the Island I would love to see that filmed faithfully, not the mishmash of 3 books that was the second Anne done by Sullivan. I admit I would also love to see Rilla of Ingleside and that is never going to happen if they continue to set Anne of Green Gables in the 1890s by which point Anne and Gil were married and having their children.
