Netflix Anne series

I know we're just days away from IMDB shutting down the boards but I thought I'd pass this along.

The Neftlix series of Anne is set to premiere on May 12. It says it's to be 8 episodes but I can't find anything yet on episode length. All 8 will debut at once.

After reading this article, I'm a little worried about the show.

Some quotes from the article:

showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett (who won an Emmy for writing Breaking Bad's Ozymandias episode) promises a grittier take on the source material. "This is a very grounded, real version of the story. Life in Prince Edward Island in the late 1800s was a hard, gritty, scrappy life. It was messy, it was covered in red mud,"

"We're off-book. We're the essence of the book, we have the heart and soul of the book, we have our iconic moments that everyone can't wait for, and we're telling a new story."

I love Breaking Bad, but Moira needs to realize this is a totally different story. Gritty does not fit Anne's world that LMM created.

AoGG is a classic book loved the world over. Why do filmmakers feel the need to totally rewrite it and make it something it's not. Even Kevin Sullivan (who I feel did the best version) got completely away from the Anne story that LMM wrote because, in his words, the books were boring.
