Sheriff Wade - I like everything about him. That he is flawed, a total trainwreck... but, ultimately a good person deep down despite his many eff ups. He is trying to save the town from engaging in all out war, and it's not an easy task at all with so many forces fighting against him.
In my eyes, he is the main protagonist and the biggest outsider on the show.
I am also a fan of young Hasil and Sally Ann. Their little love story subplot gets me. He sold stolen moonshine, lost two fingers, got tased by the cops, spent some time in prison, got the crap beat out of him... all for the love of sassy, sheltered Sally Ann.
YES KRAKE! He's such a kind and wise man and I just love his presence. I also forgot Wayne because he is so flawed but is probably one of the few people in the town that is logical when he's sober.
Yeah I love their young love but sometimes Sally Ann makes me wanna slap her. Her attitude at times can be a bit much and I feel bad for Hasil because he's not use to that kind of woman or city people in general. At the same time Sally Ann isn't use to that kind of man or mountain living. He's gone through a lot for her and it pissed me off that she just up and left knowing that there really isn't much left for her down there except a controlling angry brother that would probably beat on her again, if he even noticed she was gone in the first place. I'm sorry I just hate him as well as the other 2 stooges. I think she could be pregnant though, which would be very interesting subplot.
I go back and forth between Hasil and Wade. I like Wade for all the things you mentioned. I like Hasil because he is so determined and pure hearted. What you see is what you get.
Hasil, Wade Donnie the hobby guy and Sally Ann in that order. Lil Foster was a true f@ck up in the beginning. Guy couldn't even kill himself properly, but like Wade once from under the thumb of his oppressor Big Foster (dope in Wade's case) he's really shining bright for me again. I think he might really be the Bren'in.
