Who was Foster Ferrell VII

We know Big Foster was Foster Ferrell VI, and Little Foster says he is Foster Ferrell VIII, so did they skip the seventh? Is seven an unlucky number in their clan?

I was wondering the same thing

I was gonna post this very line

This is just a guess, but my guess is that Foster Ferrell VII was Sherif Wades father. There has to be a reason they are still talking about his father being hit by lightning in season 2.

Hadn't thought of that, nice catch!!!

That's a really good guess and would be quite interesting. It would also explain Wade's constant hesitation in dealing with the Ferrells because his father was one. Actually, I think this theory has been floating around since season 1 when people were speculating about Wade's "relationship" with the Ferrells.

That would be a great "twist" that the show could introduce. I always thought he was connected to the Ferrells in some way other than his father being struck by lightning.

@C_Hall22-I thought the same thing! Wade and his sister seem awful forgiving and compassionate to the Farrells. This would explain Wade's obsession and hesitation regarding them.

Wade's dad is certainly a good possibility for moving the plot forward.

For a more mundane explanation, maybe Foster VI had a son that died in infancy before Foster VIII was born. I imagine that infant mortality is pretty high up on that mountain.

Steved192 - that's my guess. Sally Hemmings had a daughter named Harriett. She died in infancy, so when Sally had another daughter she named her Harriett as well. Maybe Foster VII died as a little boy so everyone knew him to be Foster "Junior".

From watching tonight's episode I would think it was Asa. When Big Foster went to his grave (Gosh I hate saying that) and one of the guys with him said something along the lines of "he shot you. That lostie should rot". Big Foster replied "don't speak of my son like that!"

reply

He said my Boy not son....which leads it interpretation. But that's what they were eluding.

They will probably simplify it by saying Big Foster's first born son was Foster Farrell VII but in the real world Roman Numeral Suffixes aren't used like Sr/Jr and can even skip a generation. Big Foster could have a younger cousin or nephew that was named Foster Farrell VII. Either one would still be a direct line to the original Foster Farrell I.
I just noticed on TVmaze they list Ryan Hurst as "Lil' Foster" Farrell VII
