Astrid always receiving the short end of the stick from show writers?

I noticed this in Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk, Dawn of the Dragonracers and mostly on Race to the Edge Astrid always get the short end of the stick. She get little scenes, her dialogue is always the same, her whole purpose on the show is always asking Hiccup what to do or make gag noises at Snotlout. She never gets to lead or save the day! She never gets to win competition, she never gets to have ideas, she never gets to laugh, joke or be funny like she was in httyd 2 and Gift of the Night Fury.

Where is the girl from the movies? The girl who had spunk, strong presence and was hella competitive and badass? The girl in httyd 2 who laughed, sassed, joked and smiled all the time? The girl who looked so pleased with herself for kidnapping Eret son of Eret? The girl who defied her Chief orders and went after the villain on her own because she could not stay behind and do nothing? The girl who talked straight back at a scary man like Drago Bloodfist? The girl we saw in Gift of the Night Fury who wanted to make everyone happy but almost burned down Berk and gave everyone food poisoning with her yaknog?

Where is that overconfident little energy ball Astrid I love? This astrid is like a sad passive impostor. It's like she not even there is the episodes! She melts into the background and I had to often squint my eyes to find her!
