Dagur (S3 Spoilers).

Just finished S3 of RttE and I was a little disappointed by how quickly Dagur died. It seemed a bit abrupt. While I was pleasantly surprised by how the writers chose to kill him off before he really found acceptance by the others (something I rarely see in both films and shows), I do wish he lived a bit longer. Anyone else feel this way?

They should have killed off that cringeworthy Mary Sue Heather instead.

Given the fact that they didn't find the bodies of Dagur and his dragon, there's a slight chance that they could still be alive. A very slight chance.

During the auction, until I got a good look at him, for a brief moment -- very brief -- I was wondering if the silent buyer (who was sitting next to Gobber and who seemed to have made the bid for Toothless) was Dagur.

As that great philosopher Bugs Bunny said, "Something tells me I shoulda stood in bed."

That's what I thought too.

There is a good chance they will pull the "he was alive all along." card. I am mixed on the group accepting him. He is easily my favorite character in the series and I think the riders fully accepting him might negatively affect his character/personality.

I was a bit shocked that they killed him off just like that, but you are right that the writers did a good job at not making him a full part of the team before his death. The show had already established his crazy character and with all the bad things he had done in the past it would have been odd for the others to suddenly accept him.

Anyway, this was one of the best episodes on this show. Many laughts, but also many tears (that letter at the end got me hard 😢)

(whispers) He's not dead (/whispers)

No, I don't know for sure, but I think there's a 99% chance we see him again in season 4. Also my favorite character.

I think they invested too much effort in making his remorse and desire to change seem genuine, to kill him off that easily. And it seems out of character for the series to let a sweet, silly gronckle like Shattermaster be sacrificed just like that.
I'd be very surprised if Dagur didn't turn up again.
I hope so.
He's become a favourite character of mine.
