Smarter that it looks on the surface...

... and way above the "8 Apellidos Vascos" franchise, "Cuerpo de Élite" is a flawed film but that despite some common places, still has room to surprise and let laughter flow effortlessly more often that one would like to admit.

And a good introduction for foreigners about the multinationalism of Spain... this is yearning for a British and an American version, but still I am unsure if they will hit the goldmine that the spanish stereotypes constitute... My fave, the basque cop and everything around him.. The final fourth of the film could have been better and require even more suspense of disbelief than usual in this kind of films, but what the heck, that doesn't erase some of the best parts.

Overall, 6/10 - C+
