Was having the time of my life until the cgi-ridden ending

Almost ruined everything, still a nice slow burn of a film.

No problem for me.

Agreed, the epilogue was quite a let down for me as well. While they were leaving things to our imagination, it was great. But then, they started to show those people with some ridiculous make up to supposedly scare us, and at least to me, worked the other way around, it was almost laughable!

I don't understand why these people were even there. If the Guardian Angel was 'so beautiful' (as she said) why is he surrounded by demons?

reply

The demons were there because of her guilt and torment for not being there to pick up her son because she’d been having an affair with her lover. This led to her child’s death. The light, the angel, the god or whatever it was, was whatever lay beyond her agony—forgiveness instead of guilt and anger and revenge.

I usually don’t like thus moral dilemmas in horror movies, but I think it worked well here.

Did anyone get the feeling that Soloman was just conning her throughout the film and in the end all that happened was she was hallucinating because of the lack of water and food?

Everytime something random happened like a bird flying into the window he latched on to it chalking it up to the magic working, she repeatedly states that nothing is actually happening and he gets defensive and lashes out.

Then there is the masturbation where he just outright abuses her, it just seemed anytime anything happened which could remotely be associated with what they were doing he would use it as validation knowing she didn't have a clue what was going on.

Solomon’s behaviour was ambiguous and occasionally self-serving, but for the most part he was telling her what she needed to hear to get her to the mental state where she needed to be. The visions of the demons and the angel were the product of that mental state and part of her healing process.
