Not quite correct...obviously Lifetime's marketing department researched that lurid stories about Charles Manson always get good ratings...hence, the greenlight for this.

The 50th anniversary of the T/L killings are coming up in 2019...just wait until we see the flood of crap then.

Y'know I would've given this movie a pass if it actually tried to present the facts. It left out so much. Aside from some voiceovers it offered nothing new. What a missed oppurtunity. I cracked up when they showed a segment about the Director patting herself on the back.
