Inter Racial Couple?!
Oh it's OK. It's a black man and white woman. That's cool.
Now if it was a white man and black woman. Wo ho hooooooo.
That would be trouble for Fox.

Most interracial couples on TV are of a white man and a black woman you idiot
100 Greatest Action Movies - http://www.imdb.com/list/ls000708268/
Not on American TV they aren't... I'd venture to say it's at least a 10 to 1 ratio (or greater) the other way.
shareNow if it was a white man and black woman...That would be trouble for Fox.Ha! Okay, why would that be trouble?
I'd venture to say it's at least a 10 to 1 ratio (or greater) the other way. Right! Here's 10 interracial depictions from tv:
You know what's sad?
No matter where I bring up this topic someone ALWAYS has to stretch back to the 1970's and use "The Jeffesons" as an example.
Who what the black woman with a white man in "Eureka"?
I recognize a few others but there are some real obscure ones in there..
Ha! Yes! Actually I DO know what's sad: When someone makes excuses instead just admitting they pulled some b.s. statistic right out of their butt.
But, hey! I'm a good sport! Just go ahead and use the ones that you "recognize" and that are not the Jeffersons and give your ten (each) counter-examples.
And don't forget to answer this question...if you dare :
Now if it was a white man and black woman...That would be trouble for Fox.
Ha! Okay, why would that be trouble?
I think the worst part is that idiot saying "No matter where I bring this up...." Does this person go around trying to antagonize people with his/her issue with couples who happen to have different amounts of melanin in their skin?
shareI think the worst part is that idiot saying "No matter where I bring this up...." Does this person go around trying to antagonize people with his/her issue with couples who happen to have different amounts of melanin in their skin?Ha! Yeah, that's sorta what I was wondering myself!
Typical liberal knee jerk reaction to make anything about race into "racism".
My original point, which has been hijacked and trolled into the parrot squawk of "racism! racism!" is simply this:
There is a very obvious double standard when it comes to attitudes towards inter racial couples; and the major part of that lies not with the "usual suspects" of racism - whites.
And for the record, I'm not white but Native American. I believe that until ALL forms of racism and hypocrisy are openly discussed and challenged we will never overcome racial barriers in the country.
Typical liberal knee jerk reaction to make anything about race into "racism".Really?! So then go ahead and discuss! All you did was make suppositions/statistics that were provably false. (I mean, so far, everyone on this thread agrees that you have it absolutely wrong) When you get things THAT backwards, and then don't acknowledge the error or even try to have a real "discussion", I think people can be forgiven for pondering whether there is some unstated agenda...trolly racist or otherwise.

Eureka! After last night's Presidential Debate (US), I caught a preview of the film: "Loving," coming soon to a theater near you. Since 'Beaus's post remains a mystery in spite of many attempts by various folks to understand his issue(s), it occurred to me upon seeing this promo that 'Beau's side-gig is guerrilla marketing! You cheeky rascal, 'Beau! Some might have been put-off by his odd, unsubstantiated post, but I suspect he's artfully employing a form of subliminal propaganda. [Lightbulb flash here] I mean, as a couple other IMDBers wondered, who gives a flying fig about interracial couples nowadays? By his own admission he brings this topic up frequently, and is annoyed by the dated "Jeffersons" responses he receives. It's quite clever, really, to covertly raise our collective consciousness, and prompt folk to explore interracial co-habitation, which, as this new movie reminds us, remained a felony in many (mostly southern) states, years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act.
For those less socially conscience than 'Beau: "Loving" tells the true story set in the 50's/60's of a white man who married a black woman (Richard & Mildred Loving). In response to an anonymous tip, the local police raided the Loving home late at night, hoping to catch them "in the act" of violating "The Racial Integrity Act." They were arrested, convicted, but avoided a 25 year prison sentence by agreeing to "self-deport" out of Virginia. Due to their courage and endurance, their landmark case made it all the way to the Supremes who unanimously declared all miscegenation laws unconstitutional. These laws may be a particular insult to 'Beau, considering some states' interpretations prohibited race-mixing with Native Americans, a minority group 'Beau self-identifies with.
So, Bravo 'Beau! I hope the movie, and your efforts to promote it, are duly rewarded.
"Oh it's OK. It's a black man and white woman. That's cool. Now if it was a white man and black woman. Wo ho hooooooo. That would be trouble for Fox."
Mr. 'Beau: Just this past week I watched a movie & TV show depicting women of color/Caucasian men (albeit divorced):
Catch Hell- Mike & Diane
Blunt Talk- Walter & Vivian
Perhaps that's off topic since neither were Fox-generated? I couldn't glean from your original post whether you were complaining about the absence/lack of black women/white men depictions (sadly a perception stubbornly undeterred by credible evidence to the contrary), or if interracial coupling of any gender makeup troubles(?) you, or if your point is that Fox singularly & consciously advances a black-man/white-woman-only dynamic. Questions: What ratio would be acceptable/ideal/politically correct? Does Fox have a sinister agenda prompting an over-representation of a *certain kind* of mixed race relationships? If so, to what end? I'm not being cute - I am honestly curious about the backstory here.

While it is very obvious to you, I remain ignorant. I would genuinely appreciate an expansion of this supposition to forward a better understanding of the racial barriers you perceive. In keeping with your laudable aspiration to discuss issues of race "openly," I am confident you will provide salient, fact-based commentary on the topic you initiated, and clearly feel strongly about.
Thanks in advance for maintaining a respectful exchange of ideas sans hyperbolic hokum and facile generalizations.

What?!? Allison was black?!? You can't be serious. Surely she was just tan in the north. Whatever. Who thinks about it that much except bigots, trolls and racists?
Bored now.

Ha! But, interracial coupling IS "normal" AND romantic...no matter what the demographic of the actual couples are. Such relationships are just as normal (as in: it happens all the time, everywhere in the world) and filled with just as much romance as same-race coupling, gay coupling, swinger coupling, arranged marriages, social-media hookups, etc. etc. Doctor Who is not creating anything new...it is reflecting modern Britain very well; where interracial couple being shown on the screen is far less likely to be worthy of so much as a forum thread like this than in the GOOD ol' USA.
Peace!
On November 6, 2012 god blessed America...again.
If you say so.
share> Cuz of cucking and other fun stuff.
God how I love that word. There is no other word that so obviously reveals the user's racial and sexual insecurities. Its like the online equivalent of a middle-aged divorced man driving a bright red corvette because he thinks it makes him look virile and successful when it actually is a big red sign that he's got a small penis and no personality.

> Yup every man who can finally afford the sports car he always wanted must have a small penis!
Lol. Middle-age sports car driver in da house!
So you agree, everyone who uses the word "cuck" is revealing their inner sexual and racial anxieties.
Wrong on all counts! But two wrongs do not make a right. So stop spewing hypocritical garbage claiming stereotypes while making fun of people who stereotype with the same breath.
shareHhhh, seems like something an insecure sports-car driving, cuck-fearing angry white man would say. Why else would those stereotypes need defending?
shareJust goes to show you have no idea what you're talking about. Like I said, wrong on all counts. We simply have an idiot "in da house" who is jealous that a white man can afford a nicer car.

Yeah, I like that term too. It really is a fitting term.

Seriously, who even notices interracial couples anymore? Nobody cares.
WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!
"Seriously, who even notices interracial couples anymore? Nobody cares." = If only that were true. You do realize who just got elected president here in the US right? You forget that middle America (aka "flyover country" for you city slickers) is filled with backwoods conservative types for whom an interracial couple IS something they see maybe once a year in person (or perhaps only on TV).
That was the first thing I notcied about this oddly-cast show when I stumbled across it a few weeks ago. I assumed the Tim Meadows character was a roomate or a friend of someone, I didn't even realize he and Cheryl Hines were a couple because they have zero on-screen chemistry. They seem to either dislike each other or give off vibes that aren't the last bit lovey-dovey or husband/wife or even boyfriend/girlfriend. Seems like this casting mistake was just Hollywood trying to be PC and inclusive yet again, just for the sake of being overly-PC and overly-inclusive.
I'm in flyover country and we have plenty of inter racial couples here and nobody cares. You might want to rethink some of your stereotypes.
WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

Anything Paula Patton, Zoe Saldana, Rosario Dawson, and Zoe Kravits are in
and that's just to name a few, all currently on, and all young and attractive, and no offense to Ms Hines but she is 52, and has several kids under her belt. So now you do the same with black guys and white woman and lets compare numbers, age and quality.
Especially Zoe Saldana. Heck, I remember when they remade "Death at a Funeral". They kept Peter Dinklage, but other than that, the entire cast was African American. That was kind of the point of the movie. Except that they STILL cast Caucasians in the roles of the 2 guys that she had dated.
