I was puzzled from the beginning when there was a family photo on a wall and then later at the funeral with Jack, his dad, and what can only be his mom who appears to be the same age as Jack's dad (30s?) but his mother in the movie is closer to what would be his grandmother's age.

The actor is 150 years old but the mother in the movie is 60 something.

Rarely, you see kids whose parents seem more like grandparents. Plus, JACK's parents were working professors. So, it is possible for them to start a famiy later in life.
