How was Laney gore able to complete the ritual by herself?

When it needed 5 people to join the circle? I guess killing yourself will get you into hell. So what was the point of the ritual? If Alice wanted to get to the other side, she didn't need to go through all this trouble getting people to form the circle with her.

Probably Laney Gore did have 4 other people with her but since they get taken away there would be no proof that they were ever there. This movie was ok. Too many people think they are too cool to say that they like an average horror movie. They are just lame.
