The main problem with this show is the title

Yes i know people don't like the laugh track and it is a little annoying but that's classic Elton.

But really the title is poor and not memorable at all. his classics like the vicar of dibly and blackadder have memorable titles but this doesn't and doesn't really have any reference to shakespeare (unless i don't get it)

I hope this show does well as i really enjoyed the first episode but the title needs changing

It was supposedly an insult by a chap called Robert Greene. Greene didn't appear to like Shakespeare (to be honest, he doesn't appear to have liked many people)and in his pamphlet, , Greene's Groats-worth of Witte, he called someone (assumed to be Shakespeare) an Upstart Crow.

The main problem is that Ben Elton can no longer write comedy that is actually funny. Yet the BBC keeps giving him actors, scenery, crew, catering, etc., as if he could. I feel sorry for Brits who pay for this crap.

Thank God for iPlayer.

Call me Mr Picky but Ben Elton didn't write The Vicar of Dibley.

I concur.

I thought the show was ok actually, the funnest bits for me were the satirical elements regarding contemporary traffic congestion etc. (Doesn't read very funny now I've written it down though, alas and alack).

I love this show, but I keep missing episodes because, as you say, it has a terrible title. It should have been called "Shakespeare (but with jokes that are funny)".
