Can anyone explain the title?
According to a friend of mine who speaks French, La Treve literally means "Truce." I don't understand the English translation of this series and how it relates to the story.
Anyone have any thoughts about this?

You are correct. Google translater also translates it to The Truce. Why truce I dont know...yet. I will be back after a couple more episodes.
shareThe show has been titled in English as The Break. Does that make more sense to you?
shareTrêve has a broader meaning of break or pause. Trêve d'hostilités is a truce but Trêve d'hiver is a winter break in a sports season. I still don't really get the title.
In episode 3 I think, he tells the neighbor lady Ines that after his wife died he wanted to make a complete break from the big city and from anything that could remind him of her and her death. He also thought a break would be good for his daughter.
