Then how did he "bag" that first monitor lizard with his bow?

I agree. Awful lot of talking but not much to show for it. Made himself some shoes and then said he could not help hunt the lizard b/c he had a thorn in his foot! I will take Steven over him any day of the week.

I would say my memory is not what it used to be. But I don't remember what my memory used to be.

His "stories" are based on him having full camping equipment and being well fed....maybe even having a cabin and a motor vehicle....., not in a survival situation and completely naked. And when he's unable to shoot anything with a bow, he probably has a rifle. And when he still doesn't get anything, he probably has a cache of canned food.....there's no real survival urgency.

Here, he's weak, malnourished, cold, scared, tired and naked.

Before the XL finale last night, I watched the episode where Darrin and his partner (can't remember her name) were in Thailand. This was the first time I'd seen it but having watched him on XL, I was curious to see if he was like that on his 21-day adventure. Yep, he was. Granted, he does seem to know quite a bit and is eager to share that knowledge with others but the way he does it is very off-putting. His Thailand partner remarked on it quite a bit (at least to the camera) and got very annoyed with him constantly implying or telling her outright that she was doing everything wrong. Even if he was correct with his information, he should try to find a more human way to get his point across. Or maybe he should get out of the woods with just his dog for companionship and try interacting with real people on at least a weekly basis. (Speaking of his dog, that critter seemed to have way more personality than Darrin... probably would have been a better pick for the Africa trip too!)
