Um....... unrealistic?

Wouldn't a person be banned for life from MMA if they used their fighting skills to kill someone? He went to prison for 2 years for that. Yes I know he got a totally bad rap from our screwed up criminal justice system and by all rights he should have been found not guilty by reason of insanity, he even said in the previous movie that had he used a gun instead of his fists that would have happened but regardless the law is the law and I do not see how the association that governs MMA would allow someone to compete if they used their skills to commit a felony.

Not all felonies mind you, someone convicted of credit card fraud could still compete but he specifically beat someone to death using his skills and according to the courts as corrupt as they may be he did not meet the legal criteria for self defense.

Was his conviction overturned or something?

reply

Wait..what? He killed someone? I thought he was in jail because he beat up some cops...

reply

Yeah because no mma fighters have been in prison for violence

reply

He never killed anybody in the movies.

In the previous movie, corrupt cops tried to frame him, by planting a gun inside of his house. Then, they ordered him to stay quiet and surrender. Once he did that, the cops started beating him like hell, for no reason.

He reacted and fought back the cops. There were 5 of them. The kid from the last X-Men movies ( Quicksilver actor ) filmed the whole thing. So, once the footage was shown, he got released.

That scene plays a part in this movie too. The main antagonist tries to use that video as something to force him to fight. At least, that's what I remember.

reply

Yes but it was said he was in prision for killing someone in a bar fight and the police didnt plant the gun his psycho student did

He never said he killed the guy. I just re-watched that part to confirm. Although to be fair, the line's are kind of vague. So there is a chance he could have killed the guy. But his 2 year sentence probably implies that he just seriously injured the guy:

-Guy started a fight with me and I finished it.

-Later on my lawyer tells me that if I had shot the guy I would have gotten off with self defense.

reply

I always took the shot the guy line as he'd killed him. I mean like it said if he'd killed him by shooting him it'd be self defence but by killing him with his training he got sent down. I think realistically if he'd just beat the guy up with his training he'd have gotten off but if he'd killed him with it that would count as murder as he's a pro fighter. But it could be either I guess I wish they'd discussed it in the third one there was only a small few lines about him being In prison and when his girlfriend asked about it he didnt answer. It'd have cool to maybe see some flashback scens of the fight (mainly just to pissed off drunk michael jai white fight some clown lol )

reply

No a person would not be banned from MMA because MMA is not governed and plus this is a sport about fighting not about moral rights of the Church.

Get out the basement.

reply

Exactly I mean If they banned every mma fighter who'd been arrested then there'd be very few fighters at all
