I find it kind of revolting the crush-posts on certain people ...

Like here it is Hugh Dancy. I've never heard of him, but he does
a good job of acting in "The Path", but when I see a lot of posts
that make a big deal about him, it is like fake articles in the fan
magazines about rock stars, or guerrilla marketing. I don't like
it and wish it would end. Worse as the posts about the body parts
of beautiful women. That is not really cinematography or discussing
a movie ... it's cheap and tawdry. Most people in movies and TV
are above average attractiveness ... live with it, deal with it. Grow up!

The reason they make a big deal out of Hugh is because he is a big deal. I've been a fan of his since 2001 when I saw him in Ridley Scott's "Black Hawk Down" as Sgt Kurt Schmidt. There is a scene that happens at what was called in the actual raid on Mogadishu The Alamo. In that scene Schmidt is the medic of the Rangers and Delta Boys. One of the Rangers, a soldier named Jamie Smith gets shot in the leg. Femoral artery actually. In the scene he and Josh Hartnett who plays Matt Eversmann have to tie off the femoral artery or Jamie played by Charlie Hoffheimer will bleed out. The scene is riveting due to the amount of passion Hugh Dancy puts into it. Hugh actually talked to the real Schmidt who when he came Stateside left The Rangers and became a doctor in the mid-west. Schmidt has never forgotten Jamie Smith and it was with that dedication that Hugh Dancy made that character memorable. His performance was well as those of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) and Johnny Strong who played the parts of Gary Gordon and Randy Shughart respectively that make that film so memorable for me every time I watch it. Which has been many times.

Just because YOU may never have heard of him before, doesn't mean others haven't. All that "guerilla marketing" for him is well worth the bytes and pages dedicated to him. He is an excellent actor who further made a name for himself as Will Graham in the television series "Hannibal". A name that was well deserved. So when you say that we should "grow up!" I'm going to advise you to heed your own words. Hugh does have his fans and we're allowed to love his work and gush about him if we like. Perhaps you should mosey on over to IMDB and take a look at his filmography.

Here for you is Hugh's scene from "Black Hawk Down". Watch it and understand why he's got his following. Including that of the beautiful and lovely Claire Danes....his wife. The other actor in the scene playing Twombley is Tom Hardy.

So you like his movies and his acting. OK.
If you would read instead of reacting that is not what I am complaining about.
And it happens with almost all actors, good or not, so it has nothing to do with
the actor, it's just about some people's crush reaction.
That's OK with me if they have a crush, but I don't want to read dumb posts
about it on message boards. It doesn't really matter how good an actor he
is, I don't want to read about his beautiful eyes, or how someone wants to marry
him ... it's boring, and so if you unnecessarily defending actors on message boards.

Oh, and you know, just to add, he is an actor, not a/the real person, not the writer, not the director, not the producer, not the editor ... he does his part and you just happen to see more of him than anyone else.

Then I hate to have to break it to you, you might then have to stop posting to message boards all together then. Because on a free forum as well as a paid forum, you will never be able to stop people from posting what they want. While free speech is still protected, people will post what they want. And yes, as a bit of an older woman, I find him sweetly attractive. I'm allowed to say that because it's MY opinion. Don't like it don't read my posts.

And the last part...... ::shrugs shoulders:: So what?!!!!!!

reply

Yeah, but I did not see any post of yours with just gushing about the guy, only in reaction to mine. You don't know what you are talking about. Sure, speech is free, it ought to have some intelligence or point to it. No one really gives a damn about who you find sweetly attractive ... what is the whole reason they put attractive people in movies and the media, duh!

reply

And no one gives a damn that you don't like what people say about him. I personally find that you wanting to control what people say is pretty amusing and disturbing. And the reason hyper-critical people post to some message boards is beyond me.

You want to see something that isn't there, you're kinda crazy, so I'm putting you on ignore, congrats.

reply

Good, I won't have to answer your stupid posts again. Thank you for that.

it's good to see moviechat turning into a proper imdb board lol

Brux, wouldn't it be crazy if someone were to start a thread about how theyre having a caniption over people who start threads to gripe about people crushing on actors?
If your panties weren't in such a bunch, you'd see how that would be griping about you- griping about others. And that's a knee slapper, but it would probably just send you into a tizzy- and you'd start another thread to complain.

Weird, huh
