Watch it past the first episode

I watched the first episode and I laughed a few times, but I also thought some of the stuff they did tried too hard - The sets moving behind them and a few other things...

Like I said, there was some good stuff, so I went on - After five episodes I can say it finds it's tone in episode 2 and 3 and it is really damn funny.

Seeing the flashbacks that lead to where she is now is fantastic, and I think she is a great character.

Give the series a chance, don't give up after the pilot.

Absolutely agree. The other episodes are fun and quick, not unlike AD. Please keep watching.

Totally agree. I was a little disappointed after finishing the first episode but kept watching. Got much, much better.

I only watched two so far, but I thought the second one was much better. First one tried a bit too hard to be wacky. I liked it, but it seemed to stray from her voice a bit too much.

Of course she's my favorite standup, so I was gonna watch it all regardless, heh.

I watched the whole thing then Youtubed her latest material. Lady Dynamite is very interesting and real to her story but it's not something I'd watch again. It lingers a lot on uncomfortable if not depressing situations. Mary Bamford's acting in this is incredible. I'm also of the school of thought that cursing doesn't make comedy more "real" so I rolled my eyes at the endless "Cradle And Work" song that was apropos of nothing. My favorite bit was how she asked for a non-alcoholic beverage.

I just found a 20-episode series on YouTube called "The Maria Bamford show". She made it while living with her parents getting it together.

I love this show!!

Other than that, Life is a bowl of Palmolive, and I'm soaking in it.

I guess I can give the second episode a chance. The first episode was very offputting.
