The KKK are too old lazy to be a threat

I understand if they wanted to make a movie like this just for hell of it but when you bring in "based on real life events" you gotta have some fact(yes violence in the 60's i know but this a modern movie). All the kkk do nowadays are stupid marches, call it a day and go back to their trailers. They aren't even the violent ones anymore, most normally get beaten up or stabbed by the far left. Felt funny about this from the moment they mentioned "far right terrorists". I don't mind a movie that brings up something nonrelevent and gives it a good spin but this feels more like lowkey political manipulation than anything.

Hollywood sees the "right wing" as a danger but not the radical Islamists. There is no significant radical right wing in this country, and anyone with a quarter of a brain and any kind of internet connection knows it. The dangerous people on the far right are so small in number and have exactly zero power. None. Movies like this espouse the typical liberal slant that keeps pushing and pushing and pushing race relations back to pre-civil rights era...so much progress has been made, thanks to the courage of many, many men and women of color, primarily in the 1960's, and all too often these days issues get painted as being about race when it simply is not so.

reply

So much truth man, if anything movies like this are dividing people.

reply

The entire US army and police corp is a radical right wing organization.

reply

Is this a trolling attempt or do you genuinely believe this?

reply

well said. The left maintains its power by constantly reminding everybody of what is beyond the pale. Very few people are going to be tempted to become an extreme racist or white nationalist or whatever, but the target isn't the extreme right, which the liberal left needs as a bogeyman, it's any kind of nationalism, or 'extremism' a term which increasingly denotes anything that isn't 'progressive'

reply

You are what's wrong with America. I wish Liberals were as "evil" as you claim they are so that they would kill every delusional *beep* like yourself. Get stage 4 piccolo

reply

Radical Islamists show up all the time as antagonists in American TV and movies.

reply

You clearly have never watched shows like 24 and Homeland which often deal/t with terrorists with a Muslim agenda. The movie was saying that with so much focus on Muslim terrorists, there are other groups like white supremacist organizations and lone wolves who are also making nefarious plans to further their fxxked up agendas.

reply

I agree, it's kinda pathetic. At best, they needed an enemy and didn't wanted to antagonize a community (like the muslim one, for example...), which makes it political correctness at its finest ; at worst, it's pure propaganda.

It's not like this is anything new in Hollywood. Remember in The Sum of All Fears they changed the Muslim enemies from the book into Nazis. The same thing has actually been happening in regards to China, film producers these days are afraid to use Chinese bad guys because they think it would alienate a large movie-going audience.

reply

Yeah, it's so easy to make a movie about white, ultra-right wing racists when they are not a threat right now and it's also socially acceptable.
I would love to see an honest movie about Islam and the threat it poses. Maybe about the Islamic migrants flooding into Europe? Or, would that be racist?

reply

The TV show Homeland is pretty good.

reply

Four Lions is pretty good. You should watch that. But Hollywood has been seen as constantly making stories about the threat of Islam for the last 15 years, especially if you ask people not from America.

Also, who said white racists are not a threat? Lots of black people killed by white guys lately.

reply

I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I mean the movie itself judging from the trailer looks like a pretty ok watch. But I thought to myself... I haven't seen any major violence from the Alt-Right/Neo-Nazi/KKK group in a while. They just march and get beaten up by people on the Left. I feel a big white guilt vibe from this movie, and I'm not even white. I feel like this movie will try to divide us more than anything. I enjoyed American History X a lot. I was hoping this movie would be relatable to that one. Judging from first impressions though... I doubt it.

I would genuinely like to read more about these actual events also.

reply

I agree, production wise the movie looks good and DR is a good actor at least in my opinion. But i'll just watch online to judge because i don't wanna support a dividing propaganda movie.

reply

looks horrible

~I see a little silhouette of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango.

I especially like how they got a British kid to shave his head and pretend to be an American Skin Head. If you're going to make an anti-American movie... get a Brit to play the part.

Don't get me wrong; There are Neo-Nazi in this country and elsewhere in the world. But with 90% or more of the murders coming from the Middle East, some Hollywood exec. decides THIS is the topic that is most important to be covered in a movie right now... I would laugh if it wasn't so sad.

Hollywood has their collective head up Obama's a$$... and Hillary's a$$, so far ...
And they gleefully hold $15,000 a plate fund-raisers while complaining about the "evil 1%" rich people... yoo hoo, Hollywood, that includes you!

So, let ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, Al-Nusra, PLO and the others continue to behead people, burn them alive, shoot-up night clubs and bomb marathons, restaurants, tourist buses, etc. Mean while, with their head in the sand, Hollywood is fighting the fight of a very few Neo-Nazi groups who haven't done anything significant is decades.

BTW, as you're responding to MY little message, be sure to call me some good names, like "anti-Semite"
Oh, did I mention... I'm Jewish, have been to Israel 3x and was Bar Mitzva at the Wall in 1975, between The 6-Day War and The Yom Kippur War.

So... What's NEXT?

reply

Liar. Clearly you are not jewish

The KKK was never a terrorist organisation, as it is understood today. There were many black supremacist groups that were terrorist groups, some of which are still active. Ironically Hollywood lionises these groups.
