Very ODD Movie....

This almost felt like it was made by 2 different directors who had 2 different visions....

The first 40 mins seems to be going for a more scary tone where the fear/scare comes from The depths of the ocean and cant see whats gonna kill you....The first 40 mins is dark and is clearly a different tone the the last hour....

Which like a light switches to extremely colorful and more of a summer blockbuster fun action movie....

I must say I enjoyed the last hour a lot more than the first 40 mins....

I remember reading that Eli Roth was attached to direct this and was replaced pretty late with the new director....

It seems to me, Roth may have been going with a different darker tone similar to the first 40 mins and the new director came on board and changed the tone to try and make it more fun and more of a Summer season film...

overall I rated it 7.5/10 and enjoyed it....Its done very well at the box office and should get a sequel which I'll look forward to...

I just couldnt help but feel the film was ODD though...it truly has 2 completely different tones in the first half and last half and It so obvious when the switch happens, its almost jarring, Its just literally the first 40 mins is Dark, scary, Creature in the night hunting you and than BAM!...Extremely colorful, Jokes, Fun, straight Action set piece movie....
