Strange name for an action thriller

When I hear Meg I think of the girl’s nickname for Megan or Margaret. The oldest March sister in Little Women. Meg who likes to bake pies, gets straight As in school, helps out around the house, and has calming influence over her more rambunctious siblings. Does this shark share these traits?

Megalodon is the full name of the shark,it was supposed to have existed in the dinosaur times. The title is just shortened to 'The Meg'.

There's already been several movies over the years with the title Megalodon so they probably didn't want people getting this movie confused with the others.

I assume that was the point. The Meg? Sure, doesn’t quite scream menacing. But boy, the Meg is as threatening as it gets! And that is why I, for one, like it. Don’t judge a book by... oh, you know the deal.

I dig the abbreviated “cute” title.

Now when I see it I think The Nutmeg. Maybe a Christmas-y sequel, sharks in the egg nog.
