Pro Refugee Propaganda

God this was awful. Walt must be turning in his cryogenic chamber!

reply

He's been spinning in his grave since his company was taken over by greedy jerks who didn't really care about quality family entertainment. He changes direction every decade or so, every time the company turns out some new, outrageous film. Everyone was talking about him rolling over in his grave back when they came out with "Pocahontas," "Hunchback of Notre Dame," and "Hercules" back in the mid-90s.

reply

Why were people saying that with those mid-90's releases?

reply

A lot of parents (as well as history buffs) were horrified at the material used in the films (such as death, sex, the dark side of religions and prejudice, racism, etc.), as well as the revisionist history involved. They thought the company had lost their minds, and it almost felt like a betrayal of Walt's values, particularly after the better films that had come out before then.

reply

Hunchback of Notre Dame was originally a cautionary tale AGAINST gypsies. Disney movie completely reverses the message of original material.

reply

Yeah, shows you how much the times have changed.

reply

I'm afraid that comes as no surprise...

reply

Huh? I didn't see any such ting. Anyway, he was frozen (no movie pun intended), as Annette Funicello can tell you from The Great Beyond herself. Let it go, that never bothered you anyway.

reply

I saw the opposite - the church as a gas chamber right out of Auschwitz. Kind of horrible. Though condemning victims of genocide as "refugees" is also kind of horrible.

reply

the refugees were the dar fae that ended up creating a caravan and crossing the castle wall illegally.
