He saw Trudy watching him from her car in the hotel while police were there. So he takes Trudy's friend back to the same hotel that the police questioned him. I think it was even the same room. Come on no one can be that stupid.

He always went to the same motel because he and the guy at the desk (Roger) had an understanding. He paid Roger 200 bucks and Roger looks the other way and even helps by giving a false description to the police sketch artist. Also, Donovan was so full of himself he didn't think he would get caught. He might not have gotten caught, if Trudy hadn't taken matters into her own hands.

She gets raped, gets a job with Netcar, picks up the gang bangers who end up pulling a gun on her and after she finally drops them off, does not call the police because, she BONDED with them. I don't know how Netcar AKA Uber works but, I think they have a record of who she picked up and she could have told about them and how the gang bangers pulled a gun on her made her give them a 5 star rating
When the gang bangers get out of the car to go to their friend, I would have put the car in gear and FLOORED it, probably would have been stupid of me.

By not beind that stupid, do you mean the victim lady who becomes a driver. She had no common sense. She screams at the guys helping their bleeding victim instead of taking off, it works out with his help but that meeting was beyond belief. She follows the guy and parks where shes clearly seen.
The cops are just as dumb, they walk into the room and dont look under the bed or adjacent room. The suspect handles the interview and tells the detective whats up and she doesnt even get tough.
She leaves the suspects in the room and takes off, what case do they have against them.
These movies rely on someone being really dumb instead of everyone being smart and wits win out.
