His job wasn't spelled out for us in black and white; that was another part of the mystery of his character. We had the bit about his illness, his wife, and his child. Then we had the job. First he says he is an FBI agent, then that he works in the morgue, finally that he is a school counselor. When he tells Charlie he's not an FBI agent he says he can shoot so well because he attended a police academy because he wanted to be a motorcycle cop. He says that he washed out of the academy because he couldn't do wheelies (and the psych profile).
I think he may be an FBI agent after all. I've never been to a police academy but it's a stretch that he can shoot so well after basic academy training 20 years ago. Also, he said that he couldn't do wheelies but at the end there he was doing a wheelie all the way down the street.
One other thing that makes me think he wasn't a school counselor; if he really did just come upon the bodies of the two dead men, how did he find the key?

Guidance counselors are really smart these days. They can do stuff like that now. And they know karate. share
