8/10: Entertaining classical action/thriller

8/10

Recommended.
In short this movie will keep you entertained for 2 hours and your buddies aswell, the risk being it overtakes the evening. A risk you should take.
This is top notch action, packaged entertainingly.

Solid movie through and through. It keeps you captivated and it is made with a notch of comedic (not too missplaced) relief aswell. Which might be to the detriment of the movie overall but it also eases the tension.
Cinematograhpically it's nothing new and only a few exciting shots, to relate it to western terms it's as if you mix an action/thriller with with the style of movie that Guy Ritchie would make (Snatch) and detract the twist.
Sound was neither impressive, though the script most likely was.

Pro's
Positive message
Good script
Packed movie (as those really good summer blockbusters)
If you have a chance this is one of those you should see in the cinema in the summernight if available, it'll leave you with that classic feelgood sensation cinema can give you heading out in the summernight.

Con's
If it had been done without the "glimpse in the eye" (slight comedic relief) it would have been up there, right below internal affairs. For once I think I prefer it as it is though.
Possibly lacking a little in high's and low's (which is commonplace)

it was a solid film, with a story that has been done a million times before, that sets itself apart by being more realistic and above average fight scenes.

the comic relief was needed to losen up the cliched main plot.

i strongly disagree. it was a solid film, but in no way even close to infernal affairs.

Thanks for your input and I mostly agree.

I didn't say it was though, I said it could be if the emphasis would have been on thriller and they had skipped the comedic relief.

I prefered it as it was as I like atleast a couple of these kinds of movies during the spring-autumn season - when these kinds of movies are exspected and best (in my opinion) enjoyed.

you are welcome. :D

in this case i have to disagree. i don't see enough potential there for that to become truth.

it was good. i am glad that it did not try to be something it isn't. recently i have watched like 30 films that failed in delivering what they tried to do.

People can kindly disagree on some issues ;).
For me the cast had dynamic which is key for any movie and made it alot easier to enjoy. It's mainly that, the plotline, action sequences and scenography that spoke for it being up high if it was made as mainly a thriller. Well in short, i disagree! Though for once I would not like it that way, I enjoyed it as it was, for me it was a "summer" blockbuster (referring that it was released in spring and not at summer, and not the blockbuster potential) - and I like to watch a couple of those each year.

[EDIT] Clarification for those reading it out of context.
