Age Casting

Watched another Hallmark movie night before last where the actors were much older than portayed. The couple that ended up together are in their late 30s/early 40s. The girl cast as the one that broke that guys heart was 20. So odd.

I guess there are no young actors available that want to catch a break. So tired of this in hallmark movies. And did you notice that the actors who played the older married couple are the same age as the "youngsters".

Not to mention, didn't the couple say that they had been married for 20 years? That would make their daughter younger than that and they were going to visit her and her husband.

reply

Just because they've been married 20 years, doesn't mean they had their daughter after they got married. Lot's of couples have children first and then marry later. I have a friend who didn't marry her daughter's father until the child was 8 years old.

For example,

Maxine has a child at 18 by Frank. When child is 5 years old, they marry. She would then be 23. They've been married 20 years, so that would make her about 43 in the movie and their daughter would be 25...

I didn't pay too much attention to this movie, just stating that it's possible they had a child before marriage which makes their daughter being married not unusual....

"One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad"

i just watched this movie last night and wow the ages were way off.

the married couple are going to visit their already married daughter? how old were they when they had her? 18? did she get married when she was 20?

then dillion at the end we see his mother...she looked as the same age as dillion!

The bride to be was older than the old folks. The fiancé looked to be 20 years younger than her.

reply

The guy who played her fiancee and the girl who played the "old girl friend" would have been perfectly cast as the young couple! Candace Cameron Bure and Dylan are better suited as the "older married couple" in the movie!

reply

Where did it say they were supposed to be young? Or even younger than the other couple? They were just unmarried. Not everyone gets married young, especially nowadays.

You're getting carried away. Are you saying the fiancé looked 20? Not quite. Also, if it was a 40 year old man engaged to a 20 year old woman, would you have something to say about it? Couples don't always date within their own age group and sometimes the woman is older. Don't bring your outdated, narrow minded expectations into the 21st century.

However I do agree with you that the old married couple needed to be much older.

Funny that you commented about if the man was 40 and engaged to a 20 yr old woman. Actually the character Dylan (Paul Greene) was dating and got his heart broken by his brother's now fiance Cynthia (Mackenzie Mowatt) and they ARE 20 yrs apart in age basically!! lol That really was an unbelievable couple in my opinion!! I'm not saying that 2 people with that age difference cannot work, but the character of Dylan just seemed far to practical and mature to go for someone that young. My opinion only of course. I was just pointing out that what you said actually was what was in the movie too!! :-)
