what a sweet movie!

I am enjoying it immensely!

I am finding it incredibly corny. But I've had a bad couple of years and my heart has been frozen for a while.

reply

No.... It's corny. The acting was good.

I enjoyed it. Yes, there were a couple of corny parts, but it was a good movie. The one part I thought was very unrealistic was the scene where their Dad finally goes into the church and he and his wife have a personal conversation in front of the congregation. (no rhyme intended  ).
Who would do that? I understand the importance of it, but they took it a little too far.
Also, maybe I missed something, but why were they calling the unborn baby a boy when, in those days, the baby's gender wasn't known until it was born. Were they just hoping ?

reply

There are MANY old wives' tales about predicting a baby's gender. A mother ties a string around her wedding ring & holds it over her stomach, it either rocks back & forth or moves in a circle.

Baby bump, low means boy & high means girl.
Food cravings, salty means boy & sweet means girl.

I was thinking the same thing.

She was probably 6 or 7 months along, I saw the little tiny hand when he was born and the father mentioned something about holding the little hand. So the baby was probably too small to survive in those days and was stillborn or died shortly after he was born.

But don't you remember even before the baby was born, they were referring to the baby as being a boy and had even named him Larry?

Anyway, maybe they were going by those little things they did back then to guess the baby's gender. Those methods had to be right at least 50% of the time, right?

BTW, I agree with you on the way some people have to reply to a post they don't agree with in a hateful way. I don't get it either, but it seems to be the norm on some of these boards.

And you felt the need to tell me that why?

I will never understand why, when someone comments about how much they like a particular show, someone else has to chime in with something bad. Why did you even feel the need to make the effort to come to the movie's page in IMDB and find the message board? You must be terribly bored.

reply

I felt the need to tell you that, you rude and insensitive person, because I am entitled to post my opinion of a movie. I found it corny and unbelievable despite being based on a true story.

Besides this IS a discussion board where people discuss the movie or TV show they watched. Are we all supposed to agree with you because YOU happened to like the movie? Not everybody did and we are entitled to post that also. Just because you started the thread doesn't mean only people who agree with you are allowed to post. SMH - that is what IMDB boards are all about. I guess you must be a newbie and don't realize both opinions are posted. I would say more but I, unlike many on this boards, am a lady. I also don't tell people they are stupid like you did on this board.

Your post to another person who didn't agree with you: "to weprovideleverage-you are astoundingly stupid".

So if you can't conduct yourself with a little self control without resorting to name calling I will add you to my ignore list. I don't need any more aggravation in my life.

Wow, Kate - way to push an admittedly sad person straight into suicide. There was nothing wrong with that post. Your post, however, was mean and not necessary.
