Wrong Flag
Small U.S. Flag shown was a 50 star flag or used after Hawaii became our 50th state in 1959. Movie takes place 1955-1957 or so.
Dolly would have been about 13 at that time of 50 star flag.
What about the other flag? During that time in the 1950's South, they would have the Stars & Bars in that classroom. This film wasn't afraid to talk about God, and showing the family at Church, also dealing with old fashioned discipline, but apparently the Confederate flag is just too contoversial.
