Jennifer Nettles

I can't stand Jennifer Nettles! But she did good in this movie. Couldn't keep my eyes off her and she's a great actress.

I never knew who she was before I saw her here and I agree, she is outstanding in this. She is a natural as the mom and the little bit of singing she does is really good.

The young girl who plays Judy, the friend who freed Dolly from the closet at school, reminds me a lot of a very young Reese Witherspoon.

Overall a very nice movie although I wish it could have been shown without the breaks for commercials.

YES! A young Reese Witherspoon! Exactly what I was thinking... Man on the Moon days.

I haven't listened to country music since at least Dolly Parton's time, so I didn't know who Jennifer Nettles was, until a friend of mine said she was in the group Sugarland.

reply

I love Sugarland! May I ask why you don't like Jennifer Nettles? I do agree, she is a natural at acting!! And I definately see the Reese reference with Judy!

reply

I dunno! I always thinks she is cute and funny in interviews. But the music sends me running. Especially the Stuck Like Glue song.

But I believe in candor. And calling out good work.

Well done, Girl.

I first heard her on the song Love, Your Baby Girl. Cannot stand that twangy song and that is when I decided I didn't like her. Should not have judged her by one song I guess.

reply

When she's not twangin' , she sounds amazing! She's a great vocalist. This is coming from someone who is not a fan of Sugarland. I was thoroughly impressed with Jennifer's acting on this movie.

reply

She really is! I was quite surprised to find out that this is her first acting role. It's impressive that she could match the likes of Rick Schroeder and Gerald McRaney, who have a great deal more experience behind them.

Saw her in "Chicago" on Broadway and she was just great, have alway been a fan.

I agree. She did awesome. I looked to see what else she's been in and this was it. I was impressed.

reply

I'll knew I knew her from somewhere but couldn't place her. Came to IMDb and was like omg. She was fantastic in this.

There are so many great female vocalists in Country music; Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride (Oh My God!) LeeAnn Rhimes, but up near the top is Jennifer Nettles. When I finally figured out that was her playing Dolly's mom, I got excited!!! This woman is Great! She's a heck of an actress and when she starts to sing, Stand Back!!! We all know Dolly's great, we've known for 50 years, but it's great to shine the light on others ..... We need a story like this right now. It's been mentioned they tried to make this story for a long time; God..workin' in his mysterious ways...we need this story this minute with terrorism in San Bernadino (God Bless those folks!!) and Paris. Give me an AR-15 and let me loose! I haven't picked up a weapon since Vietnam (1968) but let me at em! We had a saying in Vietnam - "Some things are only settled with the smokin' barrel of a gun." Kill innocent, unarmed civilians and the cheer about it?!?!?!?! Let's go!!! (Have I made myself clear??) John

The argument between her and the father was epic! I loved it! Me and my hubby fuss like that all the time but we don't consider it real fighting.
