Dolly Parton is the epitome of a false Christian.
I don't know where you are coming from to say this, but what many people don't understand (and I'm saying this as a 30+ year, highly knowledgeable Christian) is that the only people who can judge other Christians as good or bad or true or false are experienced, knowledgeable Christians. If you only read the Bible man times, that's nice and I'm glad for you. But without experience and knowledge as a Christian yourself, you might as well forget judging anyone who says they are a Christian. You might as well expect to become a U.S. presidential candidate just because you know all about government, the constitution, etc. It doesn't work that way.
As far as what I think of Dolly, well, only God is really to judge, but she seems at least fair to me. I do think she really believes in God and that she's not really trying to lead others toward or away from Christianity. So she would have no reason to be a false Christian.
Full of vanity and silicone.
I know she does herself up, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's full of vanity. If she talked like she was very self-focused on her looks (which she doesn't), that's how you would know she was full of vanity.
She's pure Hollywood, which is nothing but a factory for turning out worldly whores.
I won't get into the "worldly whores" part, but "purely Hollywood"? Really? She has and incredible body of Country music, a member of the Gran Ol' Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame, and has her own theme park. Yea, she has turned out some things for Hollywood (all country-themed or related somehow), but she's more Country than anything else.
My wife and kids watched this film. And I listened in on it here and there.
Then you might not have gotten the gist of it and misunderstood it. Have you discussed your displeasure over it with your wife?
It sickens me the way they use GOD's name to promote vanity and other evil in this world.
I just saw it in full today and I didn't get that out of it. They only mentioned God sometimes. They didn't use his name to promote anything at all, really, except maybe that he takes care of families in his fold and strengthens them.
Jesus' name gets tossed around when His death represents a gift to do whatever we want.
In this movie? Again, I didn't get that out of it, that any Christian in the movie said that or acted like that.
But little did Dolly mention is that Jesus also condemned vanity and rich people. He clearly stated that the rich are an abomination to GOD and will never make it to the Kingdom of GOD.
Other posters answered this very well. Sorry, They are right about rich people. You are wrong. As long as money is put in the right perspective, a Christian could even make Donald Trump look poor and it would be okay with God. All a Christian has to do is not place much importance on their money.
Her true god is evil.
Meaning... her actual god is evil? Evil as a thing or as a descriptive adjective? Really, only she knows what or who her true god is. If she says it's the God of the Bible, we must assume he might be and leave it at that, because only God really knows and no one else possibly could.
GOD gives us what we need, which are things to survive and spiritual strength.
True.
He doesn't make us movie stars.
He may well have helped Dolly become a music star by giving her the talent and opportunities for her to grab and pursue. How she handled her talent and opportunities was all up to her. That's how he works. There are Christians everywhere- the motion picture industry, TV industry, radio, law firms, hospital Operating rooms, garbage collection routes, newspaper deliver routes- some might even have a bag and a poker and pick up trash around a building as a volunteer.
But Dolly thinks He does.
Really? What is the Dalai Lama thinking as you read this, O great psychic?
The day will come when she realizes what a big mistake she made with her life.
Pursuing her passion and using her talents? Yeah, that's always a bad way to go. Cah-mon!
