Made On A Budget Of $200

This is as cloistered and cheap jack a theatrical release as I have seen since the vomitus Blair Witch Swindle. It has like, what? 5 sets? Everyone sits on his or her ass. The Asian chick vanishes about 2/3 of the way through the slog. It was horrible, but it was not horror, drama, comedy, satire or good. They MUST have made a tidy profit given that they paid the crew with food stamps.

DIMWITS (for this and Blair Witch) You have to USE YOUR IMAGINATION! Awesome! Original!

ME Ever read a book? Books have been asking you to use your imagination for fucking centuries.

This might make you mad, but it's budget was $1,000,000. And according to BoxOfficeMojo, it grossed around $17 million worldwide. Not much, but could've been good profit considering its budget.

Even though the story had limited locations, I'm guessing that $1,000,000 is spread across actor/crew salaries, costumes/makeup, props, catering, and possible license usage (lots of actual real-life names of software and musical artists seen throughout the movie).

I actually enjoy these "Desktop Thrillers". The first Unfriended was better, and The Den and Searching were also enjoyable. They are not the most brilliant movies and some of the characters can be annoying, but the storytelling methods in these "horror/thrillers" is unique, and I like how realistically they multitask, open tabs, do searches, etc. Plus, as a reviewer put it, the idea of being rooted in one place an unable to do anything but watch horrific things happen in a small window in a corner is a strange & unique feeling. We've seen Michael Myers and Jason slash people on the big screen, but imagine them popping up in a webcam feed from behind and killing (where the graininess actually helps add to the authenticity). That's kind of a new type of terror we don't usually see or experience.

I thought this movie was awesome. I liked the first one but this one was better. I think it takes a lot of imagination and skill to make a movie this gripping with just computer screen vision. 7.5/10 for me. Would recommend.

Ditto. AJ's death was awesomely executed lol, and the best one of the lot.

Also liked how the Circle people affected the screen - reminded me of the killer in the woods segment of the first V/H/S movie where he distorts the image and audio.

Host has a similar premise (albeit a supernatural one) and is pretty good too.
