My Biggest Problem With Fallout 4

I love this game. I love the new dialogue system. I love that my companions can't die. I love the glitches (it wouldn't be a Bethesda game without them). I love everything people don't like about this game. But there's one thing about this game that really bothers me, one thing that nobody else seems to be talking about.

WHY DOES FATHER HAVE A BRITISH ACCENT?

If he's really who the game says he is then why does he inexplicably talk in a voice he has no reason to have? Is he not who they say he is? Is that a twist later? Don't tell me. But if he is who he says he is then why and how is he a British man?

*beep* acting, look at the cast for Fallout 3, Then look at New Vegas, Then look at the cast for Fallout 4. it's sad and garbagy by comparison, that's the main reason I haven't bought it yet i was so frickin excited to see the new cast, only to discover they screwed us, am still pretty mad about it.

reply

Ya'll need to get over yourselves. The VA is perfectly fine.

reply

Fine isnt good enough, it's cheap, if Bethesda is gonna release us another incomlete game, (with the added expectation that the fans will help them fix it for free) they could at least soften the blow by providing a quality cast to play with, the op is right, the bugs were worth it for the cast. Now we don't even get that.

reply

Hey, at least you got a god damn game, now quit your incessant crappy rant.

reply

We got a crap game, without question. Your right i should be more specific. Fallout 4 is crappy cuz of 1.)promise of less load screens instead there are more than NV 2.)bad AI Ex: duck behind a tree to evade any enemy in the wasteland, even if said enemy watched you walk behind said tree. 3.)Followers constantly get in the way and you are constantly having to push them, this is highly irritating for any Bethesda fan cuz it's a mistake they've made with dam near every single one of their games in the past n still haven't learned from, 4.) enemies you aim at from a distance can randomly teleport out of your crosshairs, 5.)Dead bodies and power armor that randomly float in the air out of reach, , and finally 6.) less character customization options than any fallout game before it. Also feel I should add, that on another post you made, it sounded like even you are having quest bugs. It might be unpleasant for you hear about, but it's the truth, I love the series too, but that doesn't excuse them from my rants, regardless of who finds them incessant, if you don't like it, ignore it like you do with the problems in Fallout 4.

I can't agree with any of your points, to be honest, except the AI getting in the way. They should have taken a page out of Bioshock Infinites page in regards to making a seamlessly awesome AI companion.

I'm not having any problems as of yet, I was only asking what quest I need to complete before I could complete Emergent Behaviour. I'm not going to start throwing around "buggy quest" when I've had similar issues with other quests (Vault 81, for example).

Have to agree with Rebuh, no problems with any of those things except AI. And that's a problem I solved a long time ago with companions in Bethesda games... I only keep them around to carry extra stuff and they get left behind while I go and adventure. Then I load them up with stuff and it's back to base or to the market. Problem solved. In Skyrim I completely replaced companions by adding a simple saddlebag mod to horses.

Back to the OP topic, the biggest problem I had... I suffered the Ft. Hagen blur glitch. Went to google, found the console command that fixed it in about 2 minutes, went back into the game and fixed it. Took all of 10 minutes from suffering the bug to clearing it back up. That's the great thing about "buggy" Bethesda games. That magic thing called "google" where you can find all the bug fixes. If a game is as good as fallout, I don't mind the occasional fix or workaround. As long as they continue to allow players access to the command console, I'll forgive the odd bug or 2. I've never suffered a gamebreaker in a Bethesda game, so no harm done.

I have to disagree. I though the cast for fallout 4 was by far the best overall. Fallout 3 and NV had some good characters, but they were few and far between. In terms of the sheer number of characters I found interesting, Fallout 4 had the most.

He was raised by the people of the institute who may have had British accents? You don't inherit accents

reply

I mean, if they explained that, sure. But we know he spent his young pre-institute life with a man who did not have a British accent and when we see him in a flashback as a young boy he still doesn't have a british accent, so...

reply

He doesn't have a British accent. I am British, so I would know if he did. He sounds generic American. The actor is American as well.

reply

this is your BIGGEST problem? LOL

anyway, his voice is distinguished, not British. people sometimes seem to confuse the two.

reply

I am British, and he doesn't sound British to me, either.

He doesn't sound British at all.

I can't take anyone who says Fallout 4 is a crap game seriously.

Could the AI be better? Sure, but find me a game where the AI is perfect.

Was the dialogue streamlined? Yes, but it cuts down on me having to ask the same question 4 times to see the different responses. The convos are more natural.

The parts that are lessened or streamlined are far outweighed by the additions in my opinion. The rebuilding, the contraptions, add-ons, etc.

Honestly, my biggest problem was that the weapons don't break down with time.

reply

Right, my biggest problem at this point is we won't see any more content after Nuka World. I bought the season pass at the initial price and I'm happy with everything it provided for its $25. But I'd happily pay more for some more DLC.

And weapon degradation... I honestly thought that would be included with survival mode and was hugely surprised when it wasn't. Oh well, I haven't checked but if there isn't a mod for it now... there will be soon.

My only major problem with this game is the settlements. Sure, building them can be quite fun but it feels like most of the time, you're having to defend those worthless settlers instead of doing missions. It takes up enough time building them up but once you do, even if you have the recruitment stations off, you have to stop whatever you're doing and go run off to protect those damn settlements! They always need something and it's like they literally can't do a damn thing on their own. Even when you assign them tasks, half the time they don't do them instead staring at you like they're completely brain-dead. You would think living in the Wastes would toughen them up to knowing how to defend themselves, but no...they're more or less useless.

I found myself doing what I've read most people doing, which is completely ignoring the settlements, telling Preston to deal with it himself, and playing the game. It's WAY more fun that way when you're actually getting to play Fallout and not a Sims game.

I have EXORCISED the demon

reply

I had that problem for a little while. Then I started building my settlements right. And not only could my settlers defend themselves properly, but it seemed like they were only getting attacked very rarely. Walls plus bottlenecks plus turrets equals 98% unassailable settlements.
