How about instead of just tv show series. How about cult like film trilogy? Imagine a Back to the Future one with unknown actors Acting like a young Michael J. Fox who had to work both All in the Family and BTTF around the same time. The original Marty, Eric, being fired after weeks of filming. Years later for the sequeal Crispin Glover filing a lawsuit for using archieved footage without permission.

Isn't he too overweight and old? I can see someone like Zach Effron playing Fox. It's an interesting movie behind the scenes. Firing Eric after a month of filming. Working out Fox's schedule. Crispin Clover suing Spielsberg for using his likeness in archive footage which apparently changed the business today.
I myself acted once in a small commercial and ry recycled my likeness in different spots that I got a huge cheque out of it.
I think you mean Family Ties, not All in the Family... LOL. Regardless, BTTF is actually my favorite movie, so I would definitely watch that. :-)
Btw, there have been a few recent books along these lines - including "As You Wish" (story behind The Princess Bride) and "We Don't Need Roads" (making of BTTF). I'm a librarian, and couldn't resist ordering both of these for my branch! I also borrowed the latter, but haven't had a chance to read it yet.
