Kate Bornstein is rad!

That other lady Jenny is a real drag. She has zero sense of humor and really needs to lighten up. To me she comes off as close minded which is strange seeing as how she wants society to be open minded about her.

reply

I like them both, Jenny had a terrible, violent experience which is why she is opposed to the word tranny

reply

Kate's story about her mother learning to accept her and telling her she would always love her was incredibly touching, and she told the story so well, with so much heart.

reply

That was an interesting story and I'm so glad her mom had a change of heart

reply

I'm also glad her mother loved her child no matter what. It was a hard scene to watch. Also when Kate had mentioned she told her mother she was having a hard time at work. I can only imagine the isolation and loneliness many feel.

reply

I agree, that was a touching story...

I will say, her story/history about choosing and wanting to be called a tranny is very interesting. Especially since all the others in the group are against that term. But I found her reasoning so interesting. She basically saying she does not identify as a woman, like the others do, but vocally admits instead she is a tranny, which is such a derogatory term to the transgender community today.

And she and Jenny B butting heads over the issue. The two most intelligence women out of the group, yet they don't see eye to eye on that subject.

reply

I was surprised.
I always thought that transgenders didn't like that term "tranny" to be used.

reply

They don't. But some like to appropriate it like young gays do it with queer and some black people with the n word.
