New Debate: Transgender vs. Cross Dresser

Someone brought up a good point, and I was trying to think of a way to describe Cait/Bruce and this "transition" in his/her life.

Everyone has "dubbed" her the Spokesperson of the Transgender community, and I dont think they bothered to ask Cait/Bruce if that is what he/she wanted. (Ill start just start calling Bruce, Cait; and say she/her as opposed to he/him). She had no room to really grow into her new world. To have fun coming out, but then resort back to the privacy of her home. However, there are cameras immediately when she comes out about wanting or feeling like a woman. She is learning this new world and it should be at her pace and on her terms. Not what Candis, Jenny, and Chandi say is appropriate and what she should say and do. She isnt a puppet. Jenny has been advocating and being a voice for the Trans community for over 2 decades, while Cait hasnt even been for 2 years.

She got an opportunity for a show, and thought it was a great way for Jenny and the woman to help and make other aware, but also to show-boat and get under Kris' skin--we all know it!

Now, someone brought up a good point. I think Cait is more of a cross/dresser. She still wants to golf under male, and change in the mens room, and probably keep his/her shlong. She is into woman, never thought about being with a man or dating a man anyway. Cait likes the play with makeup and dress up and wear heels. Cait likes the clothes and fashion but at the end of the day, when all the glitz and glamour and makeup is off. She's probably in boxer briefs, lounging on the couch. Cait is still very much a man with riding motorcycles, and golfing and doing manly things. She is Conservative, and shouldnt have to change political parties because they say its "what transgender people" do and believe.

They want her to change her beliefs and thoughts and if she is goig to be the spokesperson then she needs to say this and say that and do it this way or you will be black-balled. You must act this way. Pretty much be a whole new person with your whole new look after 67 years.

I dont think she is Transgender, and she is being told that she is so that is what she is labeling herself. She is being told to say she is, when I dont think she really knows who she is, yet. She is figuring it all out. And never got to do it on her own -- or at least for a year on her own. Learn exactly what/who she is, and what she wants to say about her journey, and what works for her and doesnt. She very well may be just a cross dresser. So what is the difference to you guys? What do you think Cait is more like, Transgender or Cross Dresser?

what a silly thing to say. So by that logic, all natural-born females play with makeup and dress up and wear heels? And at the end of the day they never lounge around on the couch in the equivalent of boxer briefs?

So those are only things men do? No women ever ride motorcycles or golf?

You have a very binary view of how women behave and how men behave. There are many women, including many heterosexual women who were born female - who loathe heels and dressing up and wearing tons of makeup - but they will do that when and if the situation warrants. Yet they will gladly throw on something similar to boxer briefs to lounge on the couch at the end of the day. Does that make them not a woman or less of a woman?

And there are many women who golf and ride motorcycles and other "manly things" you refer to.

Transgender is an umbrella term that includes cross-dressers. Transsexuals are now confused with disgusting people like Bruce and transgenders, and they should not be.

I know I cringe whenever another middle-aged dad comes out of the closet and announces he is a woman and was one all along. Recently the mayor of New Hope, Texas did this. He looks and dresses like an old, busted up transvestite more than the appearance of an actual woman.

The problem w/ that is that many (& I mean many) people have a hard time w/ that concept because actually then any person can come out and say "I FEEL like this and that". But still,..... it does not make it "real" to the rest of the World!

I was watching this Documentary the other day about children who think they lived in another life.
Well, this little boy thought he'd lived in the 1930s, because he "felt" like somebody else. But even his mother had a hard time believing him. Whatever that little boy was feeling and hearing in his head, was just not making sense to the rest of the World. So basically, that boy just went on living as a boy who "thought he was somebody else". And that was that. But that boy did not all of a sudden start wearing clothing from the 1930's,etc. He just kept drawing pictures of these places that were coming to him in his head. And for that boy, it was real. Was it sane? Was it logical? Well, to most people, it was not a logical concept.

Therefore, most people have a problem when a person who has married 3 women, fathered many children, (for example) to all of a sudden come out and say: "I've felt like a woman".
To most people, what does THAT even mean?
It's a hard concept for mainstream society to accept.

I won't say she is a cross dresser. But it does appear that Caitlyn is more into the Barbie aspect of being a woman and just likes the pretty clothes make-up and hair. But that's not all being a woman is about.

Recently the mayor of New Hope, Texas has come out after living for many years as a male. He/she is another one that waited until s/he was about 50, a wife and a few kids before transitioning. He claims he told his wife years before that he crossdressed and wanted to be a female. Maybe so, and maybe the reason she stuck around after hearing that is she already had a child from a previous marriage. It could be she was desperate enough for a man she decided to marry him instead of running as fast as her legs could carry her.
