Really liked this

Lots of referentiality--felt reminiscent of Cronenberg at times, Mario Bava at others—and in spite of a pedestrian third act (the narrative kind of devolves into standard psychological thriller fare somewhere near the end), I had a lot of fun with this flick. Genuinely unusual for a big-budget production.

I really liked it too, it was fresh and original with its own style and atmosphere, all intertwined with a directors vision and superb cinematography, you can really tell the director was the same dude who did The Ring, similar creepy unsettling atmosphere. Shame i critics diden't like it

I absolutely agree with what you said, Excidium, the cinematography/lighting...the overall atmosphere of the film was very interesting. I, too, was expecting something along the lines of the magnificent "The Ring". Unfortunately I found the last twenty minutes to be (a little over-the-top)... The underground scenes looked a bit too "Pinewood" for my taste and why have Jason-Isaacs AGAIN as a villain?? I would have settled for a 'Ring' ending...more eerie and unsettling, alas...
Yet, I must note that Dane DeHaan was perfect for the role thus making the final scene quite spectacular!! All in all a pretty decent movie.
