Nice children's film except for one serious event.

My grandkids (7 and 9) loved it, and plan to buy it as soon as they can. I was dismayed that the dog died in a fire. That's a little harsh for a children's film. We were the only family in the theater, so we were able to chat freely, and the kids really didn't like to see such evil cats. They wanted to love the kittens but the kittens were not cute for long. The action scenes were fun. The animation was wonderful and the rendering of the textures and detail held my attention throughout, especially the main character, the parrot. No corners were cut by this animation team. This movie is about a shipwrecked man. That and his name are the only resemblance to Defoe's Robinson Crusoe tale.

I could see that Ainsley's death would be upsetting for kids but luckily it is not really graphic at that point. I think it is wonderful how birdlike they made the movements of Tuesday the parrot, especially when he was distressed.
