Graphics ok, story however..

Could have been better.

What do you think?

reply

I couldn't agree more; I was really bored. My son seemed to enjoy it though.

I thought the graphics were great! The 3D was was a visual delight! (For example, when the camera flies into the nooks and crannies of the ship and the treehouse. That was stunning and made you feel like you were really in there!) I usually prefer the 3D aspect in movies to be subtle, but I loved how obvious and colorful and close-up everything seemed in this movie. There was lots of depth! It was especially good for young kids, who still get the thrill of reaching out and trying to grab objects.

And there was some pretty fantastic details in the animation that really stuck out, from the individual whiskers on the cats, to the array of mushrooms growing by the tree, to the detailed stitches on some of the sailors' clothing. It was very well done!

In terms of storyline, it wasn't the best, but better than I was expecting based on the overseas ratings. Older kids might get tired of it, but younger kids will surely enjoy this!

You nailed it SceneIt22! You haven't seen 3D till you see this movie!

You sound like a quote used on a movie poster.

I saw this about two weeks ago. how it got a theatrical release I will never know. looked like something you would have only found in the deepest parts of Netflix

reply

I was bored from beginning to end. Not a horrible film but could have been better. The kids in the movie barely laughed at all.

This is a cartoon for really little kids.

Those who enjoyed the last Ice Age movie might like this.

No one else will.

@Alondro, "This is a cartoon for really little kids."

I heartily disagree. Most of the film concerns nasty, ugly, evil cats whose goal in life is to get revenge and destroy. Definitely not material for "little kids". 90% of the film was either boring or horrible.

The story isn't really strong enough to keep an adult absorbed but I loved the look of the film. The muted colours with lots of smoky greys and sandy browns are very pleasing.
