I liked it!

I am a typical Midwestern American white woman. I have loved the original wizard of oz my whole life. I watched the new wiz, and I really enjoyed it. It was fun and upbeat, and full of talent. It was not the old movie I've always loved, but it was a pleasant surprise. And queen Latifa looked beautiful in every scene she was in. Great job all around.

I loved it too. I saw the Broadway production w/ Stephanie and I saw the local productions a dozen times -- I had to sell tickets to the play. And this was very nostalgic for me.
However, I wasn't on board with the script and the dialogue. It was a bit too "urban" for me. I thought Common was miscast -- how is he getting acting jobs 😃
I loved Mary J. and yeh, I bought the Queen as the Wiz. Very smart production. And the lead star Shanice was spunky, very capable.

I love both versions too. :)

I've always found the idea that you have to pick one adaptation or the other to be ridiculous as most adaptations bring something new to the table with its own style to enjoy.

Unless we're talking about Captain America movies. Just go straight to the Chris Evans movies...

What we see and what we seem are but a dream. A dream within a dream.
