Language


Apart from the mountain of things already well said by others, the language part drives me crazy.

In the books, the invaders speak their own (and completely incomprehensible for the Aussies) language. They use their own written language too, which is described several times in the books as being composed of strange characters. Despite never stated in the books, it's clear the invaders are Chinese. So it can be seen both in the film and in this TV Series.

Here, it's not only that they speak in english when they're in front of the locals. They speak in english EVEN among themselves when they're alone. Come on...

I can understand that the producers didn't want problems clearly stating that China invaded Australia, but to avoid that senseless behaviour with language, they could have thought about something, I don't know. Maybe even inventing the language (you don't need to make something like what they did in TLOTR or Avatar) and adding subtitles. But pretending that the entire invader army attended english lessons prior to the invasion...
