Why was
this film booed? Was there a reason some people didn't like it?
shareI have not seen the picture yet, but from what I've read, some viewers at Cannes didn't like the very ambiguous ending. All the different story-lines that emerged during the movie weren't tidied-up to their satisfaction. From their perspective, they were watching and following along, and then suddenly the picture just ended -- and apparently some weren't happy about that. It had nothing to do with any of the performances.
Rest in peace, Roger Ebert. You were the best.
I saw it last night and found it basically unsatisfactory. The previous poster is correct that there was a lot left hanging/ambiguous. The amount of mumbling didn't help either. But what really wore on me was the large chunk of the film devoted to a TXT conversation.
I kinda doubted they could catch lightning in a bottle again, and ...
I read that the screening where it was booed was the press screening prior to the actual premiere later that day. At this second screening, Kristen Stewart received a 5 minute standing ovation...just goes to show how some films really do split opinion.
share4/10 for me. Way too ambiguous. Artsy fartsy for artsy fartsy's sake.
