Damn,

Man I like Hannibal a lot. But I did not like his newest stand up special, or this new show he's doing.

This new episode was terrible. He's a terrible host, especially when it's obvious he's read cue-cards or reciting lines. He's so stiff and his comedic timing seems to dissipate which is a shame because he's a really funny guy.

And opening the show with that bit with Amy Shumer was a horrible idea. It came off as basically a commercial for Amy Shumer's television show and new movie. It wasn't funny. It was incredibly lame. I honestly changed the channel as soon as Amy Shumer started saying "MY new movie which opens in theaters July-". F-ck that. I turned it back a minute later when I was hoping her pitch was over, but still the two treated that bit like an ad for Amy Shumer.

This show format is tired and stale. It's not working anymore. Come on Comedy Central you're not going to find the one comedian that's going to make that format work. Get rid of the studio audience.

This show was a total bummer. It sucks. I can't see it getting better. Give Hannibal a fictional half hour comedy to write. No studio audience. Give him a story of some kind to star in and write. I'd watch that.

dude you're such an idiot. the show literally JUST started. judge it when it has a full season. i'd like to see you try and make a show hahahaha

reply

You would think when you just start is when you would have the most good ideas....this premiere had exactly 0 good ideas.

reply

lol uhhh you're an idiot. i didn't think it was that bad. it started out pretty good and got a bit stale at the end but i still see it having a lot of potential. you are whats wrong with the interent. actually everyone on these message boards are. you sit behind your conputer keyboard and think you can have an opinion about a tv show when you would never be able to make one in a million years.

reply

I could make a show as funny as Why? in the next 22 minutes. I am neither an idiot nor what is wrong with the "interent" as you so eloquently put it. I am willing to wager you are what is wrong with the entire world...calling me an idiot while writing things in response to me such as "conputer".

reply

Arguing with you will be like shooting fish in a barrel; but here goes:

you are whats wrong with the interent. actually everyone on these message boards are.

So I guess you include yourself in what's wrong with the Internet, since you're here on these message boards. (And yes, I cleaned up your spelling a bit in the retelling.)

you sit behind your conputer keyboard and think you can have an opinion about a tv show when you would never be able to make one in a million years.

One doesn't have to be a chicken in order to judge an egg, dopey. And you, too, sit behind a computer keyboard and think you can have an opinion. (Again, I cleaned up your sloppy typing in the retelling.) So, again, I guess you include yourself in your own criticism.

I await your dumbass retort.

i agree with OP it was pretty bad. Don't forget the part where they just said "hey james corbin say something funny for the camera." The "I don't answer questions" bit was watch my spoof on this viral video. I really feel like Chapelle had a big impact on CC and that's why every show looks like it wants to be Chappelle's show. or maybe they just think they can double up making their shows potential viral videos. all in all it sucked.

reply

Well, every show on CC now is as much an excuse to keep b-list comedians/writers in a steady paycheck as it is a spotlight for the star. They cycle through shows but keep the core of writers from show-to-show. It's great when it works and brutal when it doesn't.

I agree, that first episode was very bad. I really, really enjoy Hannibal's comedy and I also think he's absolutely hilarious in his role in Broad City, so I was excited that he has his own show. But that first episode really deflated my hopes for enjoying his new show. It just doesn't seem like the right format whatsoever and it made little to no sense. I typically give something like this at least a handful of episodes, especially since Hannibal is somebody i really enjoy watching, but I also do not see this getting any better. Maybe I'll try one more, but yikes, very disappointing.

reply

The second episode was even worse. I will not be setting my DVR for this one again. Maybe I will catch it again sometime and give it a chance because I like Hannibal as well but this is just flat out bad so far.
